| The
volume of positive feedback is immense. Please enjoy
reading a selection of the testimonials of some of those
involved:
Carole,
activities co-ordinator at Freeland House Nursing Home,
Witney, talking about therapeutic horticulture said:
“It is so popular, not only for residents
but also family and people working here. I’ve
been inspired to take up gardening myself since Jennifer
first came. I can see so many benefits in the work she
does with the residents. It would be terrible for us
all if the group ever stopped gardening.”
“I think it’s fantastic. It’s
great for the residents to do both indoor and outdoor
gardening activities. They all really enjoy it.”
Pippa joint owner of Heathfield House Nursing Home,
Bletchingdon.
Anne,
activities co-ordinator at Heathfield House Nursing
Home. “The residents really enjoy going outside
to garden. It’s great to see them sowing, picking
and eating what they have grown. Vera and Tom particularly
enjoyed harvesting and eating the tomatoes and carrots
last summer.”
Jill lives in a residential home having had a stroke
and uses a wheelchair. Propagating Begonia leaf cuttings,
Jill was initially a reluctant participant, but by the
end of the session Jill was brimming with enthusiasm
about what she had done. “I’ve learnt
something new today, I just can’t believe it.
I never thought I could do that at my age. It really
is wonderful.”
Edith, a residential home resident: “I really
enjoy it. It reminds me of what I used to do in the
garden. I learn new things too.”
Vera, a residential home resident: “It’s
very interesting. I enjoy everything. It reminds me
of my gardening days when I was younger. I used to love
gardening. I like watching everything grow.”
Bet, a residential home resident: “I like
to take part with the others in the group.”
Peggy, a residential home resident: “It’s
good fun for us. Being with other people is so nice.”
